HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES — Green Day was honored with their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday.

Fresh off their Coachella performance, the iconic rock band was celebrated at their star-unveiling ceremony, which took place near Amoeba Music.

Green Day has won five Grammys, with 19 nominations. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

The band’s star marks the 2,810th star on the Walk of Fame.

Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong was trying to just take the moment in.

“I’m still kind of in shock so, I don’t know, it’s beautiful. It’s, like, so great to see all the fans out here,” he said.

Fans of all ages have loved Green Day’s music for years.

“Green Day is just so important to so many people. I really think it’s just one of the best bands in the world,” said Val Petrone, a fan from North Hollywood.

“They were the soundtrack of my life. They’re everything and I love what they stand for,” said Najla Butts, a fellow fan from Santa Monica.

“It’s really rare to find a band that’s so authentic and genuine and has so much soul in everything that they sing. It really connects with the people,” said Luis Marin, a fan from Riverside.

Along with appreciating the fans, Armstrong and bandmate Mike Dirnt had another personal reason for celebrating the honor.

“This is for my mom. This is like my mom’s Super Bowl right now!” Armstrong said.

“I’d like to thank my mom for, you know, just telling me you could do anything you want to do because you got nothing to lose,” Dirnt said.

The band’s drummer, bandmate Tré Cool, was having such a good time, he was frankly ready to rock.

“I just wish we would put our gear up there and play a couple,” he said.

Music producer Rob Cavallo and actor – and big fan – Ryan Reynolds also spoke at the ceremony.

“You guys are the most beautiful band in the world and thank you for everything that you’ve given us,” Reynolds said.

“Their lyrics mean so much to me,” said Tabith Villegas, a fan from Downey. “They’re so meaningful and so inspirational and I’m so glad I didn’t go to school today. It was just so worth it.”

“I’ve been a huge fan of Green Day since I was a kid. ‘American Idiot’ was the soundtrack to my middle school years,” said David Cataldo, a fellow fan from Agoura Hills.

“I love Green Day. Me and my dad are, like, really big fans of Green Day,” said Monique Lino of Boyle Heights, who said the moment brought tears to her eyes. “I did cry. I grabbed Billie’s hand, so I did cry.”

Green Day was formed in 1986 in Berkeley and since then, they’ve become one of the world’s best-selling bands with more than 75 million records sold worldwide and 10 billion cumulative audio/visual streams, according to Walk of Fame officials. The band released their breakout album “Dookie” in 1994, which sold over 10 million copies and is widely credited with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock.
