A Willowbrook resident is facing serious charges after allegedly attempting to sexually assault one woman and inappropriately grabbing three others in the southern and western suburbs, according to authorities.

Kwame Koranteng, 31, has been formally charged with several offenses, including Attempted Criminal Sexual Assault, two counts of Aggravated Battery in a Public Place, two counts of Aggravated Battery against a Person Over Sixty, and Criminal Sexual Abuse, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office announced.

The initial incident reportedly occurred last Friday afternoon at around 3 p.m. in Downers Grove.

Authorities say a woman was walking along Brookbank Road when Koranteng allegedly exited his parked car and approached her from behind. He then reportedly passed her, turned back, and grabbed her buttocks while making an inappropriate suggestion. Koranteng allegedly fled the scene in a Toyota Corolla following the incident.

Two days later, on Monday around 2:45 p.m., another alleged incident was reported in Hinsdale.

In this case, the victim was walking with an infant on a path along 59th Street. As she paused, Koranteng allegedly approached her from behind, grabbing her buttocks with both hands. The victim claims that when she turned around, Koranteng touched her genitals over her clothing. Her cries for help prompted him to flee the scene, officials said.

The third report came in from Darien on Friday around 10:15 p.m. A woman reported that Koranteng followed her into the lobby of her apartment building and grabbed her buttocks before leaving.

After authorities identified Koranteng as a suspect in these cases, officers witnessed another alleged assault while conducting surveillance on him.

It happened on Friday in the 7300-block of Fairmount Avenue in Downers Grove.

Koranteng allegedly got out of his vehicle and approached a woman who was with her grandchild. While the grandmother was bending over to pick the child up, Koranteng allegedly grabbed her buttocks from behind and tried to wrap his arms around her. When the woman pushed him away, Koranteng fled back to his vehicle, where officers arrested him.

A judge ordered Koranteng, of the 400-block of Ridgemoor Drive, detained ahead of his trial on Saturday morning. He is due back in court on Dec. 8.
