A tragic incident unfolded in Connecticut as a husband and wife passed away following the husband’s call to 911, confessing his intent to fatally shoot his terminally ill wife and then himself.
John Ezzell informed the dispatcher of his plan, stating he would leave his residence in Plainfield accessible for the police before carrying out the grim act. According to the Hartford Courant, Ezzell revealed that his wife, Christine, was battling incurable cancer.
When officers arrived at the scene on Kate Downing Road around 7 p.m. on Monday, they found both 62-year-old individuals deceased from apparent gunshot injuries. They were pronounced dead at the location.
The bodies were subsequently taken to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy and further investigation.
Local news outlets reported a substantial police presence at the scene of what appears to be a murder-suicide. The section of Kate Downing Road between Pratt Road and Spaulding Street was temporarily closed but has since reopened.
Efforts to reach the Plainfield Police Department for a statement were unsuccessful. The town of Plainfield is situated approximately 150 miles northeast of New York City.
