Domestic violence deaths increasing in Illinois

ILLINOIS (WCIA) — The Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence has published its annual homicide report, revealing a troubling 14% rise in deaths tied to domestic violence for 2024 compared to the previous year.

The report indicates that 137 individuals lost their lives in 97 domestic violence incidents across Illinois in 2024. This marks an increase from the 120 fatalities recorded in 90 incidents during 2023.

Organizations throughout Central Illinois, such as Dove Incorporated located in Decatur, are witnessing similar trends.
