Bluffton PD investigating rash of car break-ins and thefts

The Bluffton Police Department (BPD) is currently probing a string of vehicular break-ins and car thefts that have occurred in recent weeks, chiefly on the western side of Bluffton, particularly in communities close to Okatie Highway and May River Road.

In relation to this ongoing investigation, a young male suspect was identified and apprehended early on May 2. The related charges have been sent to the Juvenile Solicitor’s Office. Since the individual is a minor, no personal details are being disclosed.

Several search warrants have been carried out, and investigators are actively pursuing new leads. The case is still underway, and it is possible that further charges and suspects could be revealed as the investigation moves forward.

The Bluffton Police Department urges all residents to take the following preventative safety measures:

  • Lock vehicle doors, especially overnight
  • Remove all valuables from inside vehicles
  • Report suspicious activity promptly to authorities

If you have home surveillance footage showing individuals pulling on door handles or appearing to case vehicles, please call 843-524-2777.
