PINE HILLS, Fla. – Authorities in Orange County have apprehended a suspect linked to the fatal stabbing of DeGwendolyn “Gwen” Floyd, aged 45, found in her Pine Hills residence.

The incident unfolded late on November 28, when deputies responded to reports of a stabbing on the 2800 block of Rockingham Circle. Upon arrival, officers discovered Floyd, who was quickly transported to the hospital but sadly succumbed to her injuries.

On Friday, detectives arrested 33-year-old Tremon Delo Jones, following a thorough investigation that utilized video surveillance footage and phone records. These pieces of evidence confirmed Jones had been in contact with Floyd and was present at her home shortly before the attack occurred.

The arrest affidavit reveals that after Floyd opened her door, Jones entered and launched a brutal assault with “an unknown object,” inflicting multiple stab wounds to her face and neck.

Investigators have determined that the attack was premeditated, as Jones had arranged the meeting with Floyd through text messages. During the incident, he was reportedly “clearly wearing a sweatshirt with a hood, a backpack, and a surgical mask that obscured most of his face.”

Orange County deputies said Jones was found at a Sanford outreach mission and taken into custody without incident. Evidence, including a tablet linked to Jones, was recovered at the scene.

Jones, known to Floyd and her family as “Savage,” had a history of trying to unlawfully enter her residence, including an incident on March 9, 2024, when he attempted to enter her bedroom. Orlando police arrested Jones for attempted burglary in that case, the arrest report states.

Jones was charged with first-degree murder and was booked into the Orange County Jail on no bond.
