The father of Kaylee Goncalves, one of four University of Idaho students murdered by Bryan Kohberger in 2022, has remarked on the killer’s reported hardships in Idaho’s supermax prison.
In addition to Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapain and Xana Kernodle were also murdered.
Steve Goncavles and his daughter, Alivea, joined “Banfield” on Tuesday to discuss the latest updates surrounding the murders.
“I’ve been informed that he’s not faring well within the prison system he’s placed in, particularly the block he’s assigned to. He’s quite insistent about having his rights respected there,” Steve Kohberger stated.
“Commit the crime, face the time. He will indeed be serving his sentence. I’ve heard that the noise he’s generating in there is not benefiting him,” he added.
Lifetime’s reported plans for a movie about the murders have frustrated some members of the family, including Kaylee’s sister, Alivea.
Actor Miles Merry has been cast as Kohberger in the “Ripped From the Headlines” movie, according to Deadline.
“It’s extremely infuriating. Honestly, from my perspective, my sisters aren’t just a headline; they’re not a Lifetime movie, and I get very annoyed at how scripted it all feels,” Alivea expressed.
The Goncalves family was not consulted or given advance notice before the public announcement about the movie.
“It’s astonishing that someone assumes they can narrate your child’s story and, you know, Maddie [Mogen], her best friend, the same people you interacted with daily,” Steve Goncalves commented.
“It doesn’t seem real. It seems like somebody’s just reaching into your house and stealing your life and putting it on the screen.”
