In Buchanan County, Virginia, the Grand Jury has issued 273 indictments involving 37 individuals connected to various crimes, including those related to drugs, sexual offenses, and violence.

As per the news update from Buchanan County Commonwealth’s Attorney Nikki Stiltner’s office, these indictments were issued on Monday after extensive investigations over several months.

Stiltner shared that one of the key investigations took place in the Rowe area, targeting three individuals suspected of drug trafficking, money laundering, and using fentanyl as a tool for terrorism. Another significant probe involved allegations of sexual offenses against a child under 13, leading to charges of rape, abduction, and aggravated sexual battery.

In addition, Stiltner said further investigations also dove into alleged cases of animal cruelty, assaults on officers and grand larceny of motor vehicles.

“These charges represent more than numbers – they represent a promise kept to victims and families who deserve justice and peace of mind,” Stiltner said in a statement. “We will not rest until every trafficker, predator, and violent repeat offender is brought before the court. This is exactly why the people elected us: to stand up and fight back.”

According to Stiltner, the indictments cover all manner of offenses, including drug trafficking, use of firearms while distributing narcotics, sexual exploitation and assault of children, money laundering and violent offenses.

The full list of indictments and defendants can be found below (Note: The document states there were 268 indictments and 36 defendants; however, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office confirmed the correct numbers are 273 and 37):

Buchanan County Sheriff Allen Boyd provided the following statement on the indictments:

“The number of charges brought in this Grand Jury is a direct result of the changing culture within the Buchanan County justice system, reflecting a shift toward greater accountability, transparency, and a more proactive approach to law enforcement. This cultural transformation, driven by new leadership and growing community expectations—has empowered both the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office and the Buchanan County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office to pursue justice with renewed determination. As a result, cases that may have previously been dismissed, delayed, or inadequately addressed are now being brought before the Grand Jury, leading to an increase in formal charges and a stronger, more visible commitment to the rule of law. While this Grand Jury represents meaningful progress, we will continue to strive to improve.”
