Car reportedly flipped in high-speed chase

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — A car could be seen flipped over following a high-speed chase on Ogeechee Road Tuesday evening.

Sarah Smith observed a car speeding along Ogeechee Road close to Mullis B Lane Boulevard. Shortly after, she heard a collision and saw a vehicle flipped over.

‘s Christine Queally spoke to GSP on the scene. The blue Dodge Charger that flipped was not a trooper, but the suspect in the chase.

Reportedly, the Charger hit two other cars while trying to get away from GSP.

GSP also hit one other car, but the damage was minor.

The suspect was reportedly wanted in connection to numerous armed robberies and home invasions. The car was also reported stolen, officials told .

As troopers tried to stop the chase, the fleeing Charger hit a curb and overturned, ejecting the driver from the car.

Around 6:37 p.m., the Savannah Police Department contacted the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) for assistance with a reported stolen car near Chatham Parkway, according to a GSP spokesperson. A Trooper found the Charger and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped away.

After the crash, the driver began to flee on foot but was caught.

witnessed a man was put in handcuffs on the scene. Officials told that the suspect was taken from the scene in an ambulance to be evaluated.

Troopers and Savannah Police officers are on the scene.
