Champaign police, fire investigating after multiple fires set Sunday

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Fire and Police Departments are currently investigating a series of four fires that occurred in various locations throughout the city on Sunday.

According to the Champaign Fire Department, one fire was ignited near the intersection of White and Neil Streets, another inside a dumpster close to Chestnut and Market, while two additional fires were identified near the 200 block of Water Street.

The fires, which were all minor and didn’t result in substantial damage, were reported to the fire department shortly after 6 p.m. Investigators are now working to determine the cause of these incidents.

According to the Champaign Police Department, no arrests have been made as of Monday evening. Anyone with additional information is asked to call 217-351-4545 or Crime Stoppers at 217 -373-8477 (TIPS).
