Champaign Police respond to Douglass Park damage, seeking more information

The Champaign Police Department is investigating an incident involving damage and an attempted break-in at the Douglass Park concession stand.

On Wednesday at 1:50 p.m., police responded to a report of vandalism at the park. Authorities noted that unknown individuals tried to enter the concession stand on Tuesday but were unsuccessful.

After they couldn’t get inside, the suspects damaged exterior fixtures at the park including security cameras.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Champaign Police are appealing to the public for any information regarding those responsible for the damage. Anyone with knowledge of this incident is urged to contact the department at 217-351-4545.
