MIMS, Fla. – The Brevard County Utility Services Department announced a precautionary boil water advisory on Wednesday for Mims due to a break in the water main.
The water main broke at at London Town Lane, affecting residents of the Mims water service area living nearby, the county said in a news release.
Although the necessary repairs have been finalized and water service has likely resumed for residents, the advisory will continue until a bacteriological test ensures the water’s safety for consumption. The county assures customers will receive another notification when the water is deemed safe.
As a safety measure, it is recommended to boil any water used for drinking, cooking, ice-making, teeth brushing, or dishwashing. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient, but bottled water is also an acceptable alternative.
