CSRA College Night returns to the Augusta Convention Center

Students in grades 9 through 12 have the chance to connect with recruiters from over 100 colleges, universities, and technical schools in Augusta, GA.

This annual event gives them the opportunity to receive scholarships and learn more about where they may want to go after High School.

This event brings in a large crowd every year.

“It’s a community event that everyone looks forward to. It’s free for parents and students, with no cost for parking. Since 1993, it’s established a reputation for being a valuable resource for high school students,” stated Cindy Hewitt, Senior Education Outreach Specialist at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.

Hewitt tells me she always looks forward to walking around, seeing all the students looking at the hundreds of options at their fingertips.

“When I observe the discussions at the booths, I speak with some high school students who share, ‘I hadn’t considered college, but after coming here, I might pursue that path.’ It’s wonderful to see these events provide them with future possibilities,” Hewitt continued.

I spoke with a student at the event who has been happy with how many colleges he has the chance to speak to.

“Many of these colleges are quite impressive. If you keep an open mind, you’ll discover that you can potentially attend many of them. The key is to maintain a strong GPA, focus on education, and pursue your passions,” commented Michael Griffin, a senior at Harlem High School.

Griffin tells me he is looking forward to learning more about the colleges athletic and academic programs.
