California museum heist: Thieves steal over 1,000 items

A daring heist in Oakland, California, has resulted in the theft of over 1,000 invaluable items from a museum’s collection, including precious historical artifacts, local authorities have revealed.

The FBI’s Art Crime Team is collaborating with detectives from the Oakland Police Department to track down the culprits and recover the stolen treasures. Among the missing items are intricately carved ivory tusks, Native American jewelry, and rare historical photographs.

The theft occurred on the afternoon of October 15, targeting the off-site storage facility of the Oakland Museum of California. According to police reports, burglars infiltrated the facility and made off with numerous items from the museum’s collection.
