Delta jets have 'low-speed collision' on ground at New York's LaGuardia, injuring 1

NEW YORK (AP) — On Wednesday night, two Delta Air Lines regional jets were involved in a mishap on the taxiway at LaGuardia Airport, New York. The incident, which the airline termed a “low-speed collision,” resulted in injuries to at least one individual.

Delta issued a statement detailing that the wing of a plane, on its way to Roanoke, Virginia, made contact with the fuselage of another aircraft that had just arrived from Charlotte, North Carolina.

A flight attendant sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The airline confirmed that no passengers were injured in the incident.

The rest of the airport’s operations were not expected to be impacted, according to Delta.

“Delta is committed to collaborating with all relevant authorities to investigate this incident, as the safety of our customers and personnel is our top priority,” the Delta statement read. “We extend our apologies to our customers for this experience.”

The Delta Connection aircraft involved in the collision are operated by Endeavor Air.
