Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office to hold first Community Police Academy

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is making a big announcement.

The Sheriff’s Office is launching their first-ever Community Police Academy this October. Since this is the debut event, only 10 people can enroll.

The program is free and will cover a range of law enforcement topics such as 911 operations, traffic and criminal law, use of force, evidence handling, investigations, and more.

Classes are scheduled for evenings once a week. The Sheriff’s Office aims to educate residents on law enforcement practices in their community and enhance the relationship between police officers and the public.

Douglas County residents aged 18 and above who are interested in participating can register by emailing sheriff@douglascountyil.gov. Make sure to include CPA in the subject line and provide your contact details.
