Police respond to EIU campus Monday morning after report of 'armed person'

CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — On Monday morning, Eastern Illinois University was the scene of a police response following a report of an armed individual on campus.

At 9:26 a.m., an emergency alert was issued to inform the university community about the situation. Although officers conducted a thorough search of campus buildings and examined surveillance footage, they were unable to locate anyone fitting the description provided.
