Christmas decoration sold through Sam's Club poses burn risk, 2,460 units recalled

Customers who purchased the $170 outdoor reindeer decoration are eligible for a refund or a repair kit.

WASHINGTON — The company Seasonal Specialties has announced a recall of a popular outdoor Christmas decoration sold on the Sam’s Club website, citing a potential burn hazard.

According to a recall notice issued Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in conjunction with Seasonal Specialties, the Members Mark 7’ Pre-Lit Twinkling Buck decoration may overheat if its wires are improperly connected.

This recall involves approximately 2,460 units, which were available for purchase on SamsClub.com from August 2025 through December 2025 at a price of roughly $170.

Minnesota-based Seasonal Specialties has received five reports concerning smoke and a burning odor emanating from the product. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with these incidents.

The product, sold under the Members Mark brand, features warm white LED lights and includes a control box for managing the lighting effects. The model number 990404199 can be found on the cord tag near the wall plug adaptor and on the product’s packaging.

According to the recall alert, consumers should stop using the reindeer decoration immediately and contact Seasonal Specialties to request a full refund or a repair kit. The repair kit includes new instructions on how to connect the wires, color-coded wire labels and a cord tag warning sticker.

Consumers can contact Seasonal Specialties at 800-353-3116 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or email at buckrecall@seasonalspecialties.com. Customers can also visit www.seasonalspecialties.com/Buck_Recall.html or www.seasonalspecialties.com and click on “Product Safety Recall” at the bottom of the page for more information.
