PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) Eleven people were taken to a nearby hospital after a stabbing incident outside a homeless shelter in Oregon, local authorities said.

Police were called to the Union Gospel Mission on Sunday evening. The 11 who were taken to the hospital had “varying types of injuries,” Salem police told affiliate KOIN.

No further details on their conditions were known early Monday.

Police said one man is in custody.

Salem police remain at the scene, and the investigation is active.
