Cocaine found at a Bulloch Co. school leads to arrest of employee

BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. () — An arrest was made at Sallie Zetterower Elementary after the school’s custodial team found cocaine on the property.

On Friday, Aug. 1, school administration informed School Resource Officer (SRO) Jessica Kite about a small bag with a white substance found on the floor of a common area inside the school.

The substance was taken to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Crime Suppression Team (CST) for analysis, where it was confirmed to be cocaine.

An adult employee was identified as a suspect after reviewing footage from the school’s security cameras.

Pamela Darien faces charges of possession of cocaine and violating controlled substance laws within a drug-free zone. Darien voluntarily turned herself in to BCSO authorities on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Darien is no longer employed by Bulloch County Schools.

“At no point did any children come into contact with the substance,” stated BCSO on Facebook. “The safety of our students and staff is a top priority for both the Bulloch County School District and the Sheriff’s Office. We commend the quick actions of school personnel and law enforcement in responding to this situation.”
