TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is sought on attempted murder charges related to a celebrity boxing event in Miami last month, as reported by The Washington Post.

Authorities apprehended Brown following his alleged involvement in a brawl with several individuals at the May 16 boxing event organized by well-known streamer Adin Ross, according to Brown and a video uploaded to social media.

In the video, Brown appeared to be holding a black pistol while pursuing someone. Shots were heard off-camera shortly afterward. Further footage depicted Brown, hands behind his back, being led away from the venue by a police officer.

The former football player was held for a few hours, according to ESPN, then later took to social media, claiming he was “jumped” by people trying to steal his jewelry and cause him “physical harm.”

A warrant obtained by The Post stated that video showed Brown punching a man before stealing a gun from a security guard and running toward him. Police said the cellphone video then captured two gunshots ringing out.

The victim was grazed in the neck by a bullet. A struggle ensued over the gun before police arrived, and Brown walked away, according to the warrant. The victim, who said he has known Brown since 2022, was taken to the hospital.

Brown played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2010 to 2018, where he emerged as one of the NFL’s top receiving threats and twice led the league in receiving yards. His career took a downturn because of various on- and off-field issues, including his contract being voided by the Oakland Raiders before the start of the 2019 season.

He split his final three NFL seasons with New England and Tampa Bay, and his career ended with Brown stripping off his jersey, pads and gloves, while walking off the field during the Buccaneers’ 2021 regular-season finale against the New York Jets. Brown announced his retirement a few months later.
