Fatal Stabbing Incident in Rantoul: One Person Dies

RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) — The Rantoul Police Department is investigating a deadly stabbing that happened over the weekend.

Officers arrived on scene at the intersection of E. Wabash Avenue and Fredrick St. around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Chief Anthony Brown reported that a male succumbed to injuries following the stabbing.

Champaign County Coroner Laurie Brauer confirmed her office had been informed of this fatality. By Sunday afternoon, the coroner’s team was in the process of confirming the individual’s identity and informing the family.

No arrests had been made related to this case by Sunday afternoon. Chief Brown urges anyone possessing additional information to contact the police department at (217) 333-8911.
