The River Street Independence Day Celebration is set to start at 7:30 p.m. with a lively performance by the U.S. Army’s Third Infantry Division Brass Band and Rock Band, taking place at Rousakis Riverfront Plaza.

The firework show begins at 9:30 p.m. from a barge in the Savannah River and will last 20 minutes. Both shows are free for all in attendance.

The city of Savannah wishes to remind all attendees that alcohol service is prohibited in public areas, and only one beverage per person is allowed in a plastic cup within the designated To-Go-Cup-Zone.

Guests are welcome to bring chairs and blankets, but it’s important to know that coolers, multiple cups, glass containers, cans, exotic animals, personal fireworks, bands, smoke bombs, skateboards, bicycles, and disruptive behavior are not permitted.

All ramps to River Street will close to vehicles at 7 p.m. and will reopen following the fireworks show.

As for parking, metered spaces will be free on Friday and parking garages will be open for a flat rate of $20.

In addition to the Fourth of July firework festivities, City Hall will be illuminated red, white and blue with LED lights.
