Generous Family Gifts $1.8M to Fund Final Semester for Medical Students

The Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at Texas Christian University has announced an exceptional gift for its Class of 2026: full tuition coverage for their upcoming spring semester.

A generous $1.8 million donation from an anonymous family will ensure that these medical students can complete their final semester without financial burden, as reported by a TCU news release.

This heartening news was shared with students through a Zoom call led by Stuart D. Flynn, the founding dean of the Burnett School of Medicine at TCU.

“The donors hope that this alleviates some of the financial stress of being a medical student and allows you to make the best choices possible as you head into residency,” Flynn stated during the announcement.

Reflecting on the donation, fourth-year medical student Cort Ewing expressed gratitude and inspiration, noting the significance of having such supportive benefactors, according to the release.

“I can’t wait until I’m in a position one day to do that for the school and for future students,” he continued.

Another fourth-year medical student, Courtney Franz, said she’s relieved: “This is just one less thing that you have to carry with you every day.”

“I can just really focus on caring for patients,” she added.

The release notes that students are in the final phase of the Anne Burnett School of Medicine’s Empathetic Scholar curriculum and are currently participating in clinical rotations across the country as they prepare to interview for residency spots.

The school was founded in 2019 and has around 180 students.
