Gothic inspired home goes viral after being listed for sale

GREENWOOD, Ind. — A piece of real estate in Greenwood has gone viral online for its “unique” design style.

The listing pulled in more than 100,000 views on Zillow in less than a week of being posted.

Adam Stoner is most notably known for his intricate tattooing and his tattoo shop in Franklin, The Salt House. He also has a podcast, The Adam Stoner Show, and a fascination with the paranormal. His interest make a lot of sense given his dad is a “Demonologist” and he describes his mom as a “gypsy” who creates custom jewelry.

Stoner knows his giant, black gothic-inspired home on the corner of Mullinex Road in Greenwood is different than his neighbors. While the black paint and gothic fencing on the exterior is eye catching, what has really taken the internet by storm is the interior.

“I am outside when people drive by, some people stop and yell at me for ruining the house and then other people are like ‘love your house, man,'” said Stoner.

To say the home is not your everyday midwestern, suburban home might be an understatement-but that hasn’t always been the case.

“The whole place was white and carpet was all white. We didn’t ever even have a chance to fully update everything. But we’re like, everything about this house needs to change,” said Stoner.

The family moved into the Italian inspired, 8,500 square foot home in 2022. In 2023 a tornado blew through Johnson County. Stoner’s home was right in it’s path. The Italian imported tile and brick in the home was irreplaceable. The Stoner’s took that as a sign to make the house more “them.”

“The internet describes it as Bam-Margera-tacky, or was it the ‘McMansion’, or what’s been called online, to the goth spirit, Spirit Halloween chic. ”

He likes to call his style “Vegas Goth.” He had some fun with all of the comments swirling online and filmed an MTV Cribs-style video touring his home that he posted to YouTube.

“I basically paint everything black. I like living in the black environment. I always joke about, if the sky behind the stars were not wasn’t dark, then the stars wouldn’t be bright at all. So we constantly have that darkness around here, because our family makes the house light,” said Stoner.

Stoner’s home, like many, is a reflection of him, his interests, his experiences. His are just a little… different.

“This is my white wolf, we named it Ghost. We are big Game of Thrones fans,” he explains.

The wolf sits perched in the wall between the kitchen and living room which is just around the corner from the taxidermy cheetah that sits above the fridge, and just in front of the teenaged lion that overlooks the foyer in the entrance of the home.

“I owned crocodile, the lion that is hanging over the banister, ravens, to zebras, to everything else,” says Stoner.

Once you get past the taxadermy animals – you then reach the remains of others.

“So yeah the hippo skull is in there which is really inconvenient when we are trying to play board games,” he says about the giant center piece in the middle of his dining room table.

But Stoner’s interest go beyond wildlife, he also loves cinema.

“This one was signed by Skeet who played Billy [in Scream]. But then all of the Scream masks we have signed by everybody. So all of the killer and all of the people we meet on there,” said Stoner while showing off his incredible collection of movie memorabilia in his theater room.

The theater room is filled with unique collectables spanning decades of popular tv and movies from posters, to masks, and even costumes that were worn on set by the actors themselves.

“This looks very horror based I guess when I look at it with you guys here, but it’s art. There just happens to be more art in horror then there is in rom coms,” says Stoner.

Of course the most obvious question anyone would have when walking past the black walls on black marbled epoxy floors, past antient relics decades and even centuries old.

“Is this house haunted,”

“No comment,” said Stoner. “I will tell you for all the people watching that are my homies, I am haunted. “

The home is currently listed just under 1.2 million dollars.
