Wes Moore, the Democratic governor of Maryland, openly criticized President Trump for his disparaging remarks about Baltimore and urged Trump to “come walk the streets” of the city himself.

Moore called Trump out Thursday, urging the president to “keep our name out of your mouth,” unless he was willing to be part of a solution.

Trump had commented on several U.S. cities, including Baltimore, claiming they were “so far gone” in terms of managing crime, as part of his efforts to tackle illegal activities in Washington, D.C.

This led to Moore’s criticism and a letter inviting him to visit Baltimore. He joined “CUOMO” to discuss his back-and-forth with the president.

“I’d love for the president to take us up on our offer and actually come walk the streets with us,” Moore told “CUOMO.”

Moore stressed that if the president is going to discuss Baltimore, he should ensure that his statements are accurate. He remarked that the president’s comments and personal attacks directed at him from the Oval Office are not only incorrect but also uninformed.

Moore, a former U.S. Army officer, referenced his background as a soldier when noting, “I will always fight for my folks.”

“If you come after my people, and if you, if you come after the folks who I represent best, believe that we are going to come back,” Moore said.

Moore expressed his willingness to collaborate with anyone aiming to be part of the solution, stating, “If anybody wants to be a vehicle for the solution, I will ride with you, and I will work with you, and I will do it enthusiastically, but if the goal is merely to criticize and stereotype the people of my communities or state, be advised that my background is in the military, and we will respond forcefully.”
