Hampton County law enforcement to ramp up DUI patrols

The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) will be enhancing impaired driving enforcement starting this Saturday as part of a statewide effort to ensure safer roads in anticipation of Labor Day weekend.

“Saturation Saturday” is a collaboration involving law enforcement agencies across South Carolina and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), designed to bolster the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” initiative from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“Driving impaired is not merely a legal violation, it’s a decision that can ruin lives,” stated Sheriff Anthony Russell. “We urge everyone to act responsibly: plan ahead, refrain from drinking and driving, and help maintain the safety of our community.”

Local drivers are advised to arrange for a sober ride, utilize taxi or rideshare options, and intervene if they see someone at risk of driving while impaired.

The goal of Saturation Saturday is to prevent crashes, injuries and fatalities caused by impaired driving.
