DeLAND, Fla. – In a dramatic rescue caught on bodycam footage, a deputy from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office bravely saved a woman from a house engulfed in flames late Saturday night.
The incident occurred on Palmetto Avenue in DeLand, where the fire unexpectedly erupted.
According to the sheriff’s office, Deputy Austin Graham displayed quick-thinking heroism as he forced his way into the burning residence. Inside, he discovered a woman lying unresponsive in a smoke-filled hallway.
With assistance from another deputy, Graham managed to pull the woman to safety, officials reported.
The rescued woman was subsequently transported to a hospital, where she remains in serious condition.
The woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
“Great news: At last update, she was stable and expected to make a full recovery!” sheriff’s officials said in a Facebook post.
Graham was evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but he did not require a trip to the hospital.
“Great job saving a life,” the Facebook post stated.
Authorities said the fire started in the kitchen and appeared to be accidental.
