WASHINGTON — In a decisive statement on Monday, President Trump demanded the immediate release of Nancy Guthrie, warning that those behind her abduction will face the harshest federal penalties if she is not returned safely.

During a succinct phone conversation with The Post, Trump emphasized his commitment to ensuring justice, stating that he would direct the Justice Department to pursue the death penalty should the 84-year-old mother of NBC “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie be harmed. Nancy was abducted from her residence near Tucson on February 1.
