In a dramatic standoff in Kissimmee, Florida, a tense hostage situation unfolded at an apartment complex on Friday morning, resulting in the shooting and death of the suspect by deputies. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident, which began as deputies were called to the Jamison Apartments near Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and Partin Settlement Road.

Authorities arrived at the scene around 10:40 a.m. in response to reports of a domestic battery. However, attempts to engage with the 30-year-old suspect quickly escalated as he locked himself inside the apartment, avoiding contact with law enforcement.

According to investigators, the situation intensified when the suspect began broadcasting on Facebook Live. During the live stream, he reportedly made suicidal threats and brandished a handgun, escalating concerns for his safety and those around him.

Throughout the day, officials, including hostage negotiators and family members, worked tirelessly to persuade the suspect to disarm and surrender peacefully. Despite their efforts, the standoff continued until the afternoon.

In a bid to resolve the situation, deputies eventually resorted to deploying a chemical agent. This tactic succeeded in coaxing the suspect out of the building, where he initially complied by lying in a prone position on the ground. Nevertheless, the confrontation tragically concluded with the suspect being shot by deputies.

By Friday afternoon, deputies deployed a chemical agent to persuade the suspect to surrender, and he left the building before assuming a “prone position on the ground,” deputies stated.

“The suspect still had the handgun in his hand and was pointing it at his head,” deputies continued. “Just before 9 p.m., the suspect fired his weapon and deputies returned fire, striking the suspect.”

The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, deputies said.

Now, FDLE investigators are set to investigate the shooting.
