Steamy afternoon with scattered afternoon storms

Steamy afternoon with scattered afternoon storms

ORLANDO, Fla. – Father’s Day is expected to start with generous sunshine, along with a muggy feel across Central Florida. By around 11 a.m., a few storms should begin firing up near I-75 before tracking east on a westerly breeze.

Scattered storms expected for Father’s Day afternoon.

Those showers and storms are forecast to reach the I-4 corridor near midday and may hang around into the early afternoon. By mid-afternoon through sunset, the greatest storm activity should shift toward the coast. Afternoon highs will climb into the low to mid-90s, with heat index values making it feel closer to 100º-105ºF.

Ridging spells higher high temperatures for Central Florida.

As upper-level ridging builds over Florida, rain chances will start to ease while temperatures rise quickly. Highs are likely to reach the mid to upper 90s, with heat indices in the 105º-108ºF range. Heat advisories could be issued for large portions of the area next week, while rain chances remain limited to only spotty or scattered activity.
