INDIANAPOLIS – The excitement for this year’s Indianapolis 500 has been amplified with the announcement that Grammy-nominated artist Jordin Sparks will be performing the national anthem. Race organizers made the announcement on Thursday, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the iconic event.

Jordin Sparks, a renowned singer, songwriter, and actress, brings her powerful voice back to the famed “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” She previously delivered stirring renditions of the anthem in 2015 and 2024. This year’s race, set for May 24, promises to be even more memorable as the nation celebrates a momentous 250th birthday.

Doug Boles, President of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, expressed his enthusiasm, noting, “Jordin understands the significance of the national anthem in our pre-race ceremonies, and her past performances have deeply moved us. Her contribution this year will add a special touch as we gear up for another spectacular edition of the world’s premier race.”

As anticipation builds, Boles revealed on Wednesday that all reserved seats for the event have been snapped up, though general admission tickets remain available. While exact attendance figures are not disclosed, the race typically fills its grandstands, which can hold approximately 275,000 spectators, with total attendance reaching an estimated 350,000, making it the largest single-day spectator sporting event globally.

Jordin Sparks first captured the nation’s attention as the youngest winner of “American Idol” during its sixth season. Her career has since flourished, with U.S. sales of her singles surpassing 10 million digital tracks. Notably, she co-wrote Ariana Grande’s hit single, “The Way.”

A seasoned performer, Sparks has toured alongside musical legends such as Britney Spears, Alicia Keys, The Jonas Brothers, New Kids on The Block, and Backstreet Boys, while also headlining her own shows. Her impressive accolades include two BET Awards, an American Music Award, and a People’s Choice Award, alongside two Grammy nominations.

Sparks also has performed on Broadway, made her film debut by paying the lead role in the film “Sparkle,” opposite the late Whitney Houston, and has most recently worked on network news programs.
