TAMPA, Fla. (NewsNation) — Kia has issued two recalls within a week for more than 300,000 of its vehicles due to loose parts.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued two separate recall notices impacting 201,149 Telluride models from 2023 to 2025 due to defective door belt moldings, and 100,063 K5 models from the same years because of issues with window trim detachment.

For Telluride models, there is a risk that the door belt molding trims might become loose and eventually detach. This component is a long, narrow strip along the top edge of the door where the window glass meets the metal frame.

K5 models are similarly affected, with potential issues involving the C-pillar garnish face plates, which are decorative panels near the rear windows. Kia has indicated that this problem stems from a supplier quality issue, which may cause the pieces to loosen and detach.

The loose parts could be a hazard for other drivers and cause crashes, the NHTSA said in the notices.

The NHTSA advises Kia vehicle owners to visit a Kia dealership for a complimentary inspection and replacement of the problematic parts. Vehicle owners will receive notification letters starting September 26.
