JCPD: Man accused of screwdriver robbery arrested in Knox Co.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Johnson City man accused of robbing and harming a victim with a screwdriver was arrested in Knox County.

According to the Johnson City Police Department (JCPD), Taylor McClain, 32, was taken into custody on Monday and charged with aggravated robbery.

The JCPD announced in a press release that they responded to a reported assault a little before 1:30 p.m. The altercation allegedly took place in a parking area located in the 500 block of N State of Franklin Rd.

Responding officers met a victim who had “several visible minor injuries,” according to the release.

According to the victim, McClain attacked him with a screwdriver and stole his wallet before fleeing the area. The victim provided the police with a description of McClain.

The JCPD secured a warrant for McClain’s arrest. Eventually, he was apprehended by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and JCPD officers went to Knox County to bring him into their custody.

He was then transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
