INDIANAPOLIS The attorneys of the man who was convicted of the Delphi murders have requested an extension of time to file their brief.

Richard Allen was sentenced to 130 years on Dec. 20, one month after a jury found Allen guilty on four counts of murder.

On Tuesday, Allen’s attorneys filed an official motion for an extension of time to file their appellant’s brief.

The brief is currently due on Wednesday, but Allen’s attorneys admit that “despite due diligence,” they need more time to draft the brief before the deadline. They are requesting that the deadline be extended by 30 days, which would make the new deadline Sep. 5.

His lawyers first filed an appeal on March 11, according to court records.

This is just the latest news regarding Allen; he was transferred to a facility in Oklahoma on July 17.
