Live coverage: Jim Jordan sees no contradiction between Biden, Trump on First Amendment at Hill Nation Summit

A number of key Washington figures are making news at the first Hill Nation Summit.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said rural radio stations will go out of business as a result of cuts to public broadcasting included in a bill the Senate is now debating.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem teased Wednesday that changes could be coming to the size of liquid containers allowed for passengers boarding flights in the United States.

She also said the United States’s “critical” infrastructure is “extremely” vulnerable.

And President Trump adviser Peter Navarro said Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is the worst to ever hold his position, as reports emerged that Trump has told GOP lawmakers he may fire the central bank chief.

The summit started at 9 a.m. EDT. Watch it live here and follow along all day for updates from the summit.

Trump on Wednesday is set to meet with the crown prince and prime minister of Bahrain at the White House. He’ll have lunch with the pair, then have dinner with the prime minister of Qatar.

More than a week after the Justice Department issued a report on Jeffrey Epstein, the fallout persists. On Tuesday, Johnson broke with Trump and said Attorney General Pam Bondi needs to explain her statements regarding Epstein.

Senate Republican leadership believes a vote is near on the White House’s rescissions package, though with an agreement to strip PEPFAR cuts, the package will need to return to the House for a vote by Friday, the deadline for passage. As a result of the last-minute dealmaking, the overall size of the rescissions package is expected to shrink slightly from $9.4 billion to $9 billion.
