Luxury Richard Mille Watches Stolen Amid F1 Weekend Frenzy

AUSTIN (KXAN) During the Formula One weekend at the Circuit of The Americas, a group faced allegations of stealing luxury watches valued at several hundred thousand dollars, as detailed in court documents from Travis County.

The Austin Police Department described these thefts as a carefully orchestrated operation, highlighting the planning and collaboration involved.

In a related incident, a woman was arrested after confessing to inventing a story about a burglary and assault.

According to the court records, the group specifically targeted affluent individuals wearing high-end luxury watches. “These particular watches have retail prices reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars,” the documents noted.

The documents revealed a scheme where a woman would feign a fall, and as victims assisted her, she would discreetly remove their watches. Austin Police Department reported that two Richard Mille watches were taken using this tactic.

Authorities stated that the woman collaborated with a group of men who would assault the victims during the theft of the watches.

While executing a search warrant, police found that the woman involved in the crimes and a group of others were staying at a short-term rental in Lago Vista during the race weekend.
