Hugall is currently in Florida and will be extradited to Jackson County.

Felony Murder carries a mandatory sentence of life without parole in Michigan.

The office reports that the investigation began in 1984 in Summit Township when the 13-year-old girl was reported missing. The girl was never found.

The investigation continued over the years and culminated in Hugall being charged in connection with her disappearance.

Sheriff Schuette stated in a news release to 6 News, “This arrest shows that the passage of time does not lessen our determination. Detective Sergeant Kelly Ebersole and Detective Mark Easter have displayed unyielding dedication to this case. Bringing Hugall to justice after so many years reflects their commitment and proves that we never give up, regardless of how much time has passed.”

Hugall will be arraigned in the 12th District Court in Jackson County following his extradition from Florida.
