MOUNT DORA, Fla – On Saturday morning at around 8:48 a.m., local law enforcement, including Lake County deputies and Mount Dora police, were called to a home on the 30000 block of Cheval Street following reports of a verbal altercation.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered that a male resident had shot another man who had unlawfully entered the residence. According to the deputies, the intruder gained access to the home through an unlocked sliding glass door.
Investigators revealed that the intruder, prior to entering, had persistently knocked and banged on the front door and windows. After making his way inside through the sliding door, he proceeded to kick in the resident’s bedroom door, prompting the homeowner to fire twice in self-defense.
The situation took a personal turn as it was revealed that the homeowner is involved with a woman who is in the process of divorcing the man who was shot. This complex relationship adds an intricate layer to the unfolding investigation.
Fortunately, the injured man was reported to be conscious and breathing when he was transported to the hospital for medical care.
As the investigation continues, authorities have not made any arrests, and the identities of those involved are being withheld to protect the integrity of the ongoing inquiry. Further updates are expected as more details emerge.
