Paraplegic man who says his wheelchair was stolen gets surprised with replacement

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR)  A paraplegic man who says he was robbed of important medical equipment is getting a much-needed replacement.

Alan Prudhome shared with local affiliate KFOR on Sunday that his apartment was burglarized twice within a short span. During these break-ins, the intruders stole his valuables, cash, and essential medical equipment that Prudhome relied on for his daily activities.

After hearing Prudhome’s story, Stacy Reddig, the owner of Wheelchairs for Veterans, says he knew he wanted to help.

“I just cannot believe that somebody would steal this man’s medical equipment, so we jumped all over it,” said Reddig.

Now, Prudhome says he’s gotten back the freedom he was missing.

“I can go where I need to go and I don’t have to worry about not being able to get to appointments,” said Prudhome.

Prudhome expressed how grateful he is for the help he’s received, and says he plans to take down his GoFundMe.

The Oklahoma City Police Department says it’s investigating the robbery and everyone involved.
