DES MOINES, Iowa (NEXSTAR) — The Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated $1.3 billion Monday night after the winning numbers failed to appear.

The numbers drawn were 8, 23, 25, 40, 53 with the Powerball 5.

Since May 31, no one has successfully matched all six numbers, causing the jackpot to grow to $1.3 billion. If someone wins on Wednesday night’s drawing, it would rank as the fifth-largest prize ever in the game’s history.

As ticket sales climbed during the past week, game officials raised the estimated Monday night jackpot to $1.1 billion before taxes.

Although there was no lucky jackpot winner, two ticket holders in Montana and North Carolina each won $2 million.

$1 million winners were drawn in California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnisota, New Jersey (2) New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The jackpot can be received through annuity payments over 30 years, or as a one-time cash payout of $589 million before taxes.

USA Mega has provided an interactive map below, displaying the estimated annuity and cash payout options for the current Powerball jackpot. States shown in gray on the map do not participate in Powerball or Mega Millions.

The chance of picking all six winning numbers is extremely low: 1 in 292.2 million, which is far less likely than getting struck by lightning. However, with so many people trying their luck for a shot at transformative wealth, a winner will inevitably emerge.

If you do win the Powerball, there are important considerations. Experts suggest assembling a team to help manage your new fortune and advise keeping your win confidential for as long as possible.

Keeping the win under wraps is easier in some states. For example, although California offers one of the highest payouts, its state disclosure laws mandate that the California Lottery disclose your full name and where the winning ticket was purchased.

In only about half the states that participate in Powerball can a jackpot winner remain truly anonymous.

If you’re ready to test your odds, the next drawing is scheduled for September 3. Powerball tickets are $2 each and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
