SAVANNAH, Ga. () — It’s only mid-September, but Friday night’s game between Calvary Day and Jenkins might decide the region championship.

Both teams are perfect in region play at 3-0. Calvary Day comes in on the heels of a 49-0 win over Windsor Forest on Sept. 12.

Throughout this season, Calvary Day has encountered significant hurdles. On September 5th, they staged a comeback to triumph over Southeast Bulloch on their turf. The week before, they were locked in a high-scoring battle with Oceanside Collegiate.

Their offense has been standout, ranking second with an average of over 43 points per game. On defense, they’re third in the region, allowing just over 17 points per game.

“Football is like a marathon,” stated Head Coach Jason Cameron. “We treat every single night like it’s the region championship. Our outlook includes understanding that the next play isn’t guaranteed. We’ve had two players lose their seasons due to injuries. So, we stay present and focus on each week at a time, hoping that if this is the region championship, we come out on top.”

Calvary Day’s junior linebacker, Kenneth Baker, remarked, “They say pressure creates diamonds. I believe we’re ready to rise to the occasion and remain true to ourselves. [Jenkins] is a talented and strong team, but our focus is solely on ourselves and being the best version of Calvary Day we can be.”

The game between Calvary Day and Jenkins is Game of the Week. You can watch it at 7:30 on the CW. The game will be played at Memorial Stadium.
