On Wednesday night, a unanimous decision was made by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority to include a stop for the Clearwater Ferry at the Dunedin Marina. Typically ferrying passengers from Clearwater’s mainland to Clearwater Beach, the service will extend its reach starting October 9th. Plans for all three stops were disrupted by severe hurricane damage in 2024, delaying access to the Marina.

“The Ferry would be amazing. Having another route here is a massive advantage. It’s really going to help,” stated Erik Feus, owner of Sea Love Dunedin.

The Ferry has taken over 15,000 passengers since January of 2025, according to the PSTA. Ferry services run from Thursday through Sunday.

Feus also commented, “This is going to increase foot traffic, aiding all the local businesses,” as he reflected on the aftermath of Hurricanes Milton and Helene.

The agreement bears a cost of $165,000, split between the City of Dunedin and the Florida Department of Transportation, as outlined in the meeting records.

“We’re thrilled about this development. It’s exciting because it draws in a new clientele, and people love it. It’s a great way to visit downtown,” remarked Sylvia Tzekas, who runs the Sea Sea Riders restaurant.

The ferry costs $8 for a one-way trip, and $4 for seniors and those with disabilities.
