Red Cross Extends Support to Marion County Family Following Devastating House Fire

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A house in Citra was engulfed in flames on Saturday afternoon, prompting a rapid response from Marion County Fire Rescue teams.

Images posted on social media by the fire department reveal the intense scene as firefighters battled the blaze at a residence located in the 3100 block of NE 155th Place. Emergency crews were dispatched to the location around 4:43 p.m. following numerous reports of the house and an adjacent storage building being ablaze.

The first team on the scene, from Sparr Station #19, arrived just before 5 p.m. They were swiftly joined by crews from Fort McCoy Station #7, Anthony Station #1, and Villages Station #10. These teams efficiently deployed hose lines and worked collaboratively to bring the fire under control, according to the department’s social media update.

Amid the chaos, a large propane tank began releasing gas, posing an additional threat as the flames spread towards a nearby vehicle. Firefighters acted quickly to protect both the vehicle and surrounding structures from further damage.

By 5:06 p.m., the fire was declared under control, with no injuries reported to either firefighters or civilians, according to officials. The American Red Cross has been called in to support the displaced family of two.
