Multiple Champaign-Urbana road closures begin Monday

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Drivers in the Champaign-Urbana area may need to plan alternative routes due to a series of street closures starting Monday.

The work ranges from sewer repairs to street improvements.

Urbana

In Urbana, North Race Street’s southbound lane will be inaccessible between West Main Street and West University Avenue. This closure will commence at 7 a.m. on September 29 and is slated to continue until 5 p.m. on October 3. According to city officials, the shutdown is necessary for Illinois American Water contractors to undertake essential work.

Drivers are asked to detour to North Broadway Avenue while the closure is in effect.
