SAVANNAH, Ga. () — As the temperatures increase, it’s natural to consider methods for staying cool. But remember that your phone is susceptible to overheating as well. Here are some tips to prevent your phone from overheating when the temperature soars.

  • Keep your phone out of direct sunlight. Don’t put your phone on the dashboard when you drive.
  • Avoid overusing your phone in the heat. Limit gaming, video streaming or using GPS.
  • Take your phone out of the protective case if it feels hot to the touch.
  • Turn off unnecessary features like wi-fi, Bluetooth and background apps.
  • Let your phone cool off naturally. If it’s hot, power it down and let it rest.

Remembering these tips will not only safeguard your phone, but they’ll also ensure your safety. In emergency situations, a phone that shuts down from excessive heat won’t be of any help.
