CHICAGO (WGN) – In a tense incident on Saturday afternoon, shots were allegedly fired at U.S. Border Patrol agents during an immigration operation in the Little Village neighborhood.

The Department of Homeland Security reported that agents were carrying out their duties near 26th Street and Kedzie Avenue when an unknown individual in a black Jeep opened fire and then sped away.

In addition to the gunfire, DHS claims that a group of people hurled a paint can and bricks at the Border Patrol vehicle.

The Chicago Police Department responded promptly to assist in managing the situation and subsequently cleared the area.
