ORLANDO, Fla. – Though recent “cold fronts” have left us wanting more, a genuine chill is set to make its debut just in time for Halloween. This year, a robust cold front is poised to finally deliver that autumnal atmosphere we’ve been eagerly anticipating, perfectly aligning with the spooky season’s kickoff.

Residents in northern areas such as Marion and Flagler counties can expect morning temperatures to plunge into the 40s, while the rest of the region will start off in the low to mid-50s on Friday morning.

    Halloween forecast preview

According to long-range forecasts, a significant cold front is expected to sweep through on Thursday, bringing cooler air from the north that will settle over Central Florida just as Halloween festivities begin.

The Climate Prediction Center’s forecast indicates that Halloween will feature below-average temperatures. Typically, highs for this time of year hover around 81 degrees, so this drop will be a refreshing reminder of fall’s arrival!

    CPC Temp outlook

This is a stark contrast to last year’s warm Halloween, where temperatures soared into the mid-80s without a hint of rain. This year promises dry, breezy, and cool weather—ideal for trick-or-treating adventures.

By 6 p.m., expect temperatures to linger in the mid-to-upper 60s, gradually dipping into the 50s as the night progresses, setting the scene for late-night costume parties.

👻 A Look Back at Halloweens Past In Orlando

Halloween weather in Central Florida has run the gamut over the years:

    • 2023: Highs in the mid 80s, lows in the upper 60s — warm and dry.

    • 2022: A steamy 90-degree high with lows near 70 degrees.

    • 2021: A cool break at 75/59 degrees.

    • 1993: The coolest Halloween on record, topping out at just 66 degrees.

    • 2019: The hottest on record — a scorching 91 degrees.

    Halloween’s past

In Daytona Beach, the warmest Halloween on record came in 2019, when highs reached a toasty 89 degrees, while the coolest was back in 1993, topping out at just 65 degrees.

Over in Sanford, 2019 also brought the heat with a high of 91 degrees, while the chilliest Halloween dates all the way back to 1953, when temperatures only reached 67 degrees.

And in Leesburg, 2019 again stands out as the hottest Halloween on record, climbing to a sizzling 92 degrees. The coolest in recent memory came in 2021, when highs only reached 70 degrees, making for a refreshingly pleasant evening.

    Halloween Extremes

And believe it or not, Central Florida has seen its share of colder Halloweens, too. Some of the coldest lows on record across the region dipped into the 40s, most notably in 2012, 1993, and 1963 — the kind of Halloween nights that truly felt like fall had arrived.

This year, we’ll continue our dry streak — no soggy candy or wet costumes in sight. So grab those layers, plan your costumes, and enjoy what’s shaping up to be one of the most comfortable and festive Halloweens Central Florida has seen in years!
