Community Spotlight: Champaign Co. Freedom Celebration

Nathan Applegate joined Taylor Mitchell in the WCIA studio to discuss the upcoming Freedom Celebration in Champaign County.

The festivities will commence with a parade at 4:30 p.m. on Friday near 4th and Kirby. A complete parade route is available here. Applegate will take the stage at 6 p.m., and the event will feature food, inflatables, and other fun activities.

“I am eager to perform for the community. My family has been in the Champaign-Urbana area for a long time; they have a background in crop farming,” Applegate shared. “It is exciting to connect with my hometown roots, perform for the local crowd, and celebrate the Fourth of July.”

The stage will be located along Kirby Avenue, between First and Oak Streets. Fireworks will start at 9:15 p.m. You can find more details here.
