SAVANNAH, Ga. () – The region is experiencing Weather Aware Days for today and tomorrow because of the anticipated dangerously high temperatures.

Heat Alerts

  • Inland Areas are under an Extreme Heat Watch from 10 AM today through 8 PM Monday. Heat index values are expected to reach between 108–112°F.
  • An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for Beaufort, Jasper, and Chatham counties, as well as coastal areas of Bryan, Liberty, and McIntosh counties, where heat indices could climb as high as 112–116°F.

Temperature Outlook

  • Today’s high is forecasted to reach around 100°F, just shy of the record 101°F set in 2010.
  • Tomorrow could be even hotter, with highs near 101°F, close to the record 102°F set in 1949.
  • The last time Savannah hit 100°F was June 23, 2022.

Safety Tips

  • Avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
  • Stay hydrated and seek air-conditioned environments.
  • Keep a close eye on vulnerable individuals, including the elderly, young children, and pets.

Relief in Sight

  • Temperatures begin to ease slightly by Tuesday, with highs returning to the upper 90s as we see a chance of isolated storms.
  • From Wednesday into the weekend, expect higher rain chances with scattered storms, helping to lower temperatures to the mid-90s.
  • Don’t get too comfortable! Another wave of extreme heat is always possible as we move into August… It’s still the middle of summer!
